Media Specialist Joan Schaffer has over twenty years experience working with journalists and producers across the globe on a plethora of subjects.
Joan’s expertise is in getting to the heart of the message and then effectively communicating that message to the media with a productive outcome. She has worked on over 500 successful campaigns in consumer, business, publishing, health, entertainment, government and non-profit. Joan has a reputation for innovation and excels at maintaining long-term relationships with clients and the media.
Joan’s career in news began at the television news agency Thomson Reuters (formerly Visnews), where she developed the Location Specials division and worked closely with international reporters and producers. She had a critical role in events including Presidential and Economic Summits.
Joan produced and wrote guest segments for Good Morning America, CNBC and CNN. She produced television packages for Consumer Reports and was a live interview coordinator for the BBC in the aftermath of September 11th. Joan also worked for Associated Press Television supporting international broadcasters with news coverage and production.
Fleishman-Hillard hired Joan as a Media Relations Consultant and Television Producer in 2000 which began her transition to public relations.
